A journey of my theory of architecture. MY blog. Mei Yin's blog.

Exit Blog

Finally, hahaha. It has been a mixed feeling of blogging based on request. As Im not used to blog previously, it has became a little bit of burden (just a little) for me to actually 'blog' once a week ><

As this semester is going to end soon, I can conclude that, IT IS TOUGH. Tough because of the amount of subjects that we took. Tough because of I did not start it quite well (failed my first project in studio T.T). Tough because I still being the same me, being procrastinate all the time. Argh. In Theory class, it started with a little bit of disappointment because of the essays that we need to read through, digest and blog about it on our own words with own thinking whether to agree or disagree. For me, it is a new experience of going through this subject in such a way that there is no assignment that required submission of paper and printing which i think, save alot of money :D printing really cost alot. hahahaha.

In this class, through out all the essays that have been given to us. I have actually learn that, theories implied in every building, even if we dont realize about it. For every single thing that happened or been put into the building, it has got its own reason for doing so. The concept, the influences, the dwellings, the history, the senses and the desire are the elements that affect how the building is going to be or going to represent. Those theories might not be the significant one, but it has certainly got its own 'power' of making the building the special one. By understand the theory behind the buildings, we can actually understand what was the architect / designer's intention of designed it this way.

Best moment would be Im still be able to be with my fellow friends in this semester. It looks like as we go to higher level, the friends around us are getting lesser and lesser. This really frustrating me as i dont know how far can we go together. I hope we will graduate together :) besides, i like the most when we get to go out from the campus. hahahaha. Sounds like we have been trapped in a cage for a long time without having freedom at all. I like it when we can actually use our five senses to get to know the building, but not staying inside class / house, 'googling'. Using five senses, we can understand the building more. As much as Kellie's Castle.

Worst moment would be the workload. Six subjects can kill any student, without needing to blink our eyes. Construction, studio, science, services, CAD and theory. Each lecturer is giving assignment as if we are only taking one subject (im not complaining). hahahaha. At least i know, as long as i have the ability to work / study, im much more luckier than others who are less fortunate out there.

My philosophy? Hmmm. Never really think about it. hahahaha. But the concept of uniting people in no matter what building will be my idea on doing design. Because i seriously think that, building served as shelter which provides protection, physically and mentally. Physically from animal attacks or weather, mentally from being alone. When people unites, there will be love. Is that considered as philosophy?

Conclusion, i do hope everyone can achieve what they have put in effort into. Never afraid of dreaming. But dont just stop at dreaming, action!

Thanks :)
